Up after Carrer de Joaquin Costa leads you to Eixample district. Saying L´Eixample is saying Gaudí, but also Ildefonso Cerdà, Lluís Domènech i Montaner, Josep Puig i Cadafalch, ManuelComas i Thos, to name a few of those geniuses of Modernist arquitecture of the XX century. Here in these streets you will taste the bourgeois Catalan lifestyle.

 

We begin the tour by the famous Paseo de Gracia. This street use to be the home of the wealthiest Catalan families in the beginning of the XX century. Nowadays, it represent still the major part of architectural and cultural legacy of the city.

As you pedal, you will discover between the trees the famous Pere Falqués floor lamps,recognizable for its unique white mosaic. And if you look at your feets, you will see thehexagonal tiles, shape created by the genius Gaudí.

 

 

 

Follow the Avenue, you will get to see la casa Pons i Pascual, la casa Rocanova, la casa Lleó i Morera, la casa Amatller, la casa Batlló, la casa Viuda de Marfà, la Pedrera o Casa Milà y la casa Fuster… These are few of the many artistic and architectonic jewels of the Condal city.

At the height of Aragó street, you should have a detour to see la Fundación Antoni Tàpies,famous architectural work of Domènech i Montaner, two of the most important architects of the city.

 

On the right, we can head to the Templo Expiatorio de la Sagrada Familia which is considered,as Parc Güell, the masterpiece of the Catalan genius and recognized as Cultural heritage of Humanity. Also in this same area you can admire the Palau Baró de Quadras, workof Puig & Cadafalch.

On the East, by Carrer del Dos de Maig we arrive at the Plaza de las Glorias Catalanas and come across the impressive Agbar tower. On the West, by Carrer del Roselló, by the Diagonal we can admire la Casa de les Punxes. Other interesting points in this área could be Barcelona University, la Casa Serra, el Museo de Modernismo Catalán, la Casa Terrades, la Plaza de Tetuan, el Parque y la Torre de las Aguas y el Arco de Triunfo.
